Fomies

Fomies is the result of the collaboration between four musicians who are also close friends hailing from the Vaud Riviera region. The band was formed in early 2017. During its initial phases, the group swiftly produced a self-made EP, which played a pivotal role in shaping their distinct artistic identity, characterized by a dynamic fusion of surf-punk and garage music elements.

Subsequently, the band embarked on a creative journey, churning out their first two albums in rapid succession: ‘Fomies’ and ‘Melting Seas’. These albums, released in 2019 and 2020 respectively, granted the band access to numerous renowned venues in the French-speaking Swiss region, including Fri-Son, Romandie, Ébullition, Amalgame and Rocking Chair (RKC). This phase of their career extended to several performances in France as well as a notable concert in London.

As the project continued to evolve, Fomies took the decision to incorporate a fifth member specializing in keyboards. This strategic move was a direct response to the band’s evolving musical direction,

which increasingly embraced fuzz-laden psychedelic soundscapes. This newfound creative energy culminated in the crafting of their third album, ‘Reversal’. This LP, released in March 2021 through Bleu Lagon Records, a Vevey-based label, garnered enthusiastic reception and garnered praise from the Swiss music press. To date, the album stands as a representation of the quintet’s boundless and masterful stage presence.

An intrinsic passion for production courses through the veins of Fomies. In 2022, the band unveiled their fourth album, ‘Sudden Lag’, co-released by Humus Records and Irascible Records. This vibrant collection showcased the band’s signature blend of caffeinated jams and resonant riffs, as potent as ever. The release also marked the introduction of a new bassist to the lineup. This alteration not only reflected the band’s commitment to professionalizing their endeavors but also marked their resolve to transcend the boundaries of their artistic potential.

Currently, the quintet is in preparation for the release of their Fifth studio album ‘Ominous Prominence’, which will be released in late November 2023 on the renowned Zurich record label ‘Taxi Gauche Records’ (Annie Taylor, Sam Himself, Adult Books, Chloe Gallardo, etc.). It was recorded at Ritmo Studio in Leysin with Benoit “Gerard” Erard (L’éclair) during November 2022. Concurrently, Fomies continues to make their presence felt on stages in Switzerland and France. Noteworthy performances include appearances at Dachstock (Bern), Paléo Festival (Nyon), Buskers Festival (Lugano), Badenfahrt (Baden) or Paris.
