Mount Jacinto, emerged from the creative vision of Costa Rican Sonya Carmona (former member of Colornoise & Las Robertas). Inspired by the majestic presence of Mount San Jacinto in Palm Springs and the vast landscapes of Northern California, Sonya aimed to encapsulate the feeling of freedom and expansiveness in this new musical venture.
Their music weaves together chamber sounds, smooth bass lines reminiscent of Air’s Moon Safari, and melodic compositions rooted in raw alternative rock. The band’s lineup includes Gini Jungi from Annie Taylor on guitar, drummer Adrian Oesch and a touch of Latin flair with Peruvian Joel Morales on bass and Mexican Yan-Cey on the synth.
“Outward Signs” (debut EP, March 2023), explores modern pop rock psychedelia with a groovy hint of twang. Mount Jacinto recently recorded a new album with JooJoo Ashworth from Froth, mixed by Alex Newport, set to be released via Taxi Gauche Records on November 29, 2024.
