Sam Himself

Originally from Basel, Switzerland, Sam Himself made his way to New York City in the early 2010s. Various bands, collaborations and other musical projects followed before Sam released his first solo-EP, ‘Songs In D’, as Sam Himself in March 2017. The release marked the beginning of Sam’s ongoing creative partnership with mixer and producer Daniel Schlett (The War on Drugs; Amen Dunes; DIIV) at Strange Weather Studio in Brooklyn, as well as New York greats Josh Werner (bass – Iggy Pop; CocoRosie; Bill Laswell) and Parker Kindred (drums – Jeff Buckley; Elliott Smith; ANOHNI).

Follow-up EP ‘Nobody’ (April 2018) raised Sam’s profile on both sides of the Atlantic with an Official Showcase at SXSW, national radio airplay and showcases, and co-signs from luminaries such as producer Danger Mouse.

Sam’s latest EP, ‘Slow Drugs’ (May 2020), hot on the heels of its eponymous lead single and the artist’s very own take on Bruce Springsteen’s ‘Dancing In the Dark’, earned Sam the prestigious award of ‘Best Talent’ by the Swiss National Broadcasting Service SRF3 the following month.
The EP release on vinyl via Taxi Gauche Records will be on September 18th, 2020.
